We’re long past the point where gaming is considered a niche culture. According to the Entertainment Software Association, over 226 million people in the United States played video games of some kind in 2020. That’s more than two thirds of the entire population of the country. Some of these might be the prototypical hardcore gamer playing online via a console or PC, while others take a few minutes per day to indulge in a free-to-play mobile game on their phones. Is it any wonder, then, that aspects of gaming have seeped into so many other areas of life?
